WATERMELON HIBISCUS LIME COOLER

Image
We live in a time when almost any flavor combination can make its way into a margarita, and in the case of this ultra-refreshing watermelon-hibiscus margarita, that's a really good thing. Having an organic farmer that shows up at your door every Wednesday afternoon with the freshest, yummiest and most in-season foods is literally a dream come true for this girl. It’s like my own personal Food Network show where I am given a box of random ingredients and I have to create something delicious with them. I guess the only difference is, I don’t also have to use random canned weirdness, fish body parts or other strange things no one has ever heard of. Basically, it just means I get to play with my food and I get to be creative with different delicious treats, each week. It really is so fun. Lately, we’ve been getting all kinds of amazing fruit in our boxes and most excitingly we have been getting these big beautiful watermelons that are seriously the tastiest things I have...

PINEAPPLE ROSÉ SANGRIA

Image
The molten depths of our earth’s core has flipped inside out and surfaced where I live. I’ve been patiently waiting for you to say this first so that I could piggyback off your complaint but you seem to be so silent and air-conditioned, so I’ll say it. It is viciously hot. I am a puddle of mean, heat-raged crazy. Ready to uppercut anything that’s pretty or small.   Breathe. There are places that are hotter than here. I’ve been to them. I was a puddle of mean, heat-raged crazy. That shirt done got tore to shreds. Pretty and small things got uppercut….ted. Okay. Cat’s out of the bag. I have been dripping sweat indoors, and that happens to people. Even princesses who can’t handle more than 78 degrees Fahrenheit. I’m trying to sucker punch the heat back down to the earth’s molten core using sangria. Want to join?  You didn’t believe how hot it was until you saw the beads of sweet on the glass…it’s true. My beverages have been sweating and pissed off ...

Image
Everybody loves punch. It’s fun, fruity and easy to drink. Best of all, where there’s punch there’s a party. I adapted this recipe from a cocktail my partner and I created back in my beverage catering days. It was always a big hit at events. Just like any well-made punch, it appeals to a variety of tastes. Unique enough to impress your guests, yet simple to prepare in advance, your friends will happily serve themselves a glass . . . or four. Strawberry Pisco Punch Everybody loves punch.
